Flagler Sportfishing Club

FROM THE HELM: by: President Chuck Gleichmann
Hopefully everyone enjoyed the picnic this year. We had great attendance, food, competition and fun. Check out all of the pictures here in the Chum Line and on our Facebook page. Take a minute to say a special thanks to Bill May and his many helpers for putting on a hugely successful event. On a personal note, this was the first time in a long time Pat and I actually had the chance to enjoy the picnic since no one would let us do anything other than hang out, so an extra thanks from us for that special effort. Make sure you all get your best chicken wing recipe out and the fryer fired up for the “War of the Wings” at our November meeting. Since our Chile Cook-off has become so popular in January we thought since it’s football season wings were in order for November.

Don’t forget to sign up for our final free tournament of the year. The Redfish-Flounder Tournament is normally has beautiful weather, well attended and produces significant catches. This is your last chance to win some bragging rights and some cash this year. November 22nd brings out our second annual Kayak Tournament for all of you more athletic members. The tournament committee has been hard at work on this one gathering new sponsors, setting a new catch photo and release format and making this into a big time event.

Finally, keep in mind November is the last meeting of the year but don’t forget to sign up for the holiday party on December 6th. Last years event was fantastic so make sure you don’t miss this one. We have reduced the cost to $20 per person for members. A pretty cheap night out that includes, appetizers, dinner, dancing, raffle (including another Yeti cooler) and fantastic entertainment by Tim Rippy. See Dean Roberts to sign up. See you there! Chuck

NMMA Dissatisfied with U.S. Court of Appeals

Washington, D.C. – October 22, 2014– The National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) is disappointed by the decision released on Tuesday, October 21, 2014, of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit to dismiss the recreational boating industry’s challenge of the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) rule regarding misfueling mitigation plans surrounding the sale of E15. The case specifically challenged the EPA’s plans to prevent misfueling including the use of what NMMA believes is a highly inadequate pump warning label amongst other insufficient means. Welcome to the Flagler Sportfishing Club website. We are an extremely active club with around 200 family's (over 400 members). Our meeting place has changed recently to the VFW in Palm Coast. We meet once a month and have a lot of events and tournaments throughout the year. Some of our tournaments pay cash awards of up to 4,000.00 dollars while others are smaller but just as much fun! Check out the 2014 schedule by clicking the link on the upper right.

Our club meetings focus on educating our members on local fishing techniques as well as staying informed on local laws and regulations. Most meetings are attended by a speaker who is a professional fishing guide in our local area. If you are considering joining our club, stop by on the first Wednesday of any month (except December). See more info under the membership link above.

Our success is a direct result of our member participation, as well as our great sponsors. We encourage each and every member to come to our meetings, and participate in our tournaments. And don't forget, when your shopping in the area to visit our sponsors and thank them for their support..
