Flagler Sportfishing Club

FROM THE HELM: October is a favorite time of year with the Flagler Sportfishing Club. Many members are returning to Flagler and Palm Coast after avoid-ing the heat of summer. As the snow birds return several wonderful things happen. The weather should be cooling a bit and the mullet run has been going on bringing the usual suspects of big flounder and reds stacked up in the inlets waiting for an easy dinner. For more check out Capt. Jim Britton’s fishing report. With mullet in the surf it’s a great time for the Club Surf Tournament October 10th. The weigh in is at Betty Steflick Park. read more...

I tell ya, our Club has some of the best surf fisher folks around! I’m amazed at what is caught in the surf. October is also time for our Annual Club Picnic, with tons of fun for all, corn hole, shoes, casting contests and a swap shop and more. As usual there will be a plethora of good eats and live music. Wow what fun. A big thanks to Andy Block for reviving the Kayak Tournament scheduled for Halloween. This is a month full of events and none require a motorized boat.

NMMA Dissatisfied with U.S. Court of Appeals

Washington, D.C. – October 22, 2014– The National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) is disappointed by the decision released on Tuesday, October 21, 2014, of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit to dismiss the recreational boating industry’s challenge of the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) rule regarding misfueling mitigation plans surrounding the sale of E15. The case specifically challenged the EPA’s plans to prevent misfueling including the use of what NMMA believes is a highly inadequate pump warning label amongst other insufficient means. Welcome to the Flagler Sportfishing Club website. We are an extremely active club with around 200 family's (over 400 members). Our meeting place has changed recently to the VFW in Palm Coast. We meet once a month and have a lot of events and tournaments throughout the year. Some of our tournaments pay cash awards of up to 4,000.00 dollars while others are smaller but just as much fun! Check out the 2014 schedule by clicking the link on the upper right.

Our club meetings focus on educating our members on local fishing techniques as well as staying informed on local laws and regulations. Most meetings are attended by a speaker who is a professional fishing guide in our local area. If you are considering joining our club, stop by on the first Wednesday of any month (except December). See more info under the membership link above.

Our success is a direct result of our member participation, as well as our great sponsors. We encourage each and every member to come to our meetings, and participate in our tournaments. And don't forget, when your shopping in the area to visit our sponsors and thank them for their support..
