Flagler Sportfishing Club

FROM THE HELM: by: President Chuck Gleichmann
I know last month I predicted better weather and now as I write this it’s 38 degrees and the wind is blowing 20 out of the northwest. I don’t think I have much future as a meteor-ologist but March just has to be better. I did just check my log and March has pro-duced my largest red fish each year over the last five so hope still springs eternal that I’ll have a shot at a couple of good fish this month. The log also said it was still cold, but not unfishable cold, so if you have been bundled up off the water, it’s time to get back out there. read more...

This month we offer up our spring new member clinic and it will be staffed by some of our most skilled anglers ready to help you get started with your fishing here, or hone your fishing skills. Even though it says “new member” it’s open to all of our mem-bers so take advantage of the knowledge base this club has to offer its members. This is a don’t miss event and director Bruce Bandes has a couple of new twists to this years clinic so check it out further along in this months Chum line. One of our most fun free club tournaments, Count the Spots, is scheduled for March 21st. This is a great family social event as well and typically the biggest fish doesn’t win so check out the enclosed flyer and sign up at the meeting.
Finally, you will be hearing a lot about our upcoming April charity tournament bene-fiting Second Chance Animal Rescue. Second Chance is a no kill animal rescue shelter and a main stay in our community. This tournament is a major fundraiser for them and Chuck Radloff needs volunteers, advertisers, silent auction items and raffle items to raise as much money as possible. Please give him a helping hand if you can. Tight Lines!

NMMA Dissatisfied with U.S. Court of Appeals

Washington, D.C. – October 22, 2014– The National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) is disappointed by the decision released on Tuesday, October 21, 2014, of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit to dismiss the recreational boating industry’s challenge of the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) rule regarding misfueling mitigation plans surrounding the sale of E15. The case specifically challenged the EPA’s plans to prevent misfueling including the use of what NMMA believes is a highly inadequate pump warning label amongst other insufficient means. Welcome to the Flagler Sportfishing Club website. We are an extremely active club with around 200 family's (over 400 members). Our meeting place has changed recently to the VFW in Palm Coast. We meet once a month and have a lot of events and tournaments throughout the year. Some of our tournaments pay cash awards of up to 4,000.00 dollars while others are smaller but just as much fun! Check out the 2014 schedule by clicking the link on the upper right.

Our club meetings focus on educating our members on local fishing techniques as well as staying informed on local laws and regulations. Most meetings are attended by a speaker who is a professional fishing guide in our local area. If you are considering joining our club, stop by on the first Wednesday of any month (except December). See more info under the membership link above.

Our success is a direct result of our member participation, as well as our great sponsors. We encourage each and every member to come to our meetings, and participate in our tournaments. And don't forget, when your shopping in the area to visit our sponsors and thank them for their support..
